What World Cup Host Cities Has To Offer

I am an avid football fan.  I have watched different world cup matches that there is.  Aside from watching the thrilling and exciting football matches, I also enjoyed knowing what the world cup host cities have to offer.

Live television viewing of the World Cup does not only show football players soaked in sweat while trying to get a goal, but they also feature a thing or two about its host cities. That is the second thing I Loved about viewing Fifa World Cup on TV. By featuring and giving information about its host cities, I just didn’t get to watch a nice football match, but I was also able to learn a thing or two from the respective host cities.

In 1998, France hosted the World Cup. Aside of watching the French Football Federation strike its way up to the trophy, I also get to know more about France. I was able to learn about the French culture, and got to know its famous sites such as the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre Museum.

In 2002, the world cup goes to South Korea. While watching The Reds (Korean Republic National Football Team) landing in the last place in the tournament, where in by the way Brazil won the first place, I also get to know about the authentic South Korean culture. I was able to see the Namdaemun, the authentic pagoda style getaway; the famous Incheon International Airport, and the Banpo Bridge that entertains its tourist passers with a dancing water fountain on its sides.

In 2006, it is Germany’s turn to host the World Cup. Germany got the third place this time. But even if they didn’t bag the first place over Italy, they didn’t fail to introduce to the world what their country can offer. The World War Two may be over, but still Germany proves itself to be the leading and most powerful. Germany is proud to have produced the famous composer Ludwig van Beethoven and genius albert Einstein. They also have the Mercedez-Benz, which is the leading and most expensive car manufacturer in the world.

And lastly, the latest world cup tournament was held at South Africa. Spain won the first place over Netherlands. Aside from watching the games, I also enjoyed singing and dancing to Shakira’s Waka-Waka song. The music video itself shows how diverse and exotic African cultures can be.

Since Brazil is going to host World Cup 2014, I wonder what will they feature about the place, the festive Mardigras, or the sun kissed Copacobana beach?  I am so excited!
